The day after the July 7 terrorist attacks on London, Andrew Lloyd Webber was quoted in the press vowing that "the show must go on" as he re-opened his 12 West End theatres after a day of closure. But his statements reflected a nervousness within the London arts world at the effect the bombings may have on attendances in the capital. Last week, VisitBritain announced that tourist spending in Britain in 2005 may fall £300m short of expectations in light of the terrorist attacks. (Although the report also predicted that visitor arrivals and spending in the UK would still show an increase over the 2004 figures.) So how are these developments being felt in the front line of the British arts and entertainment industries?
